Mission: Bridging the gap between students, career centre and the corporate world
SMU Career Champions (CC) is a group of student leaders who are trained by the Career Centre to provide basic career coaching to undergraduate students. We are trained to conduct resume reviews, mock interviews and also give internship advice.
All CC members have to complete their mandatory internship requirements at SMU before they are able to conduct independent career consults. Associate CC members are trained, but they have not completed their mandatory internship requirement. Hence, you will see them conducting coaching together with a fully qualified CC member as a form of “on-the-job” training. This is to ensure all coaching sessions by CC members are conducted to the highest standard.
Consultations are offered every Wednesday and Friday, from 3.30 to 5.30pm. You can book an appointment with us on OnTRACII, or walk in to the Career Centre during these time slots.
Beyond 1-to-1 coaching sessions, CC also organises events, some of which include:
- Resume Rescue Session
- Resume vetting for students
- Welfare Drive
- For past welfare drives, we support organisations that engaged the less fortunate such as handmade cookies by Flour Power.
- Career Discovery Series
- Professionals from various industries share their experiences and answer students’ burning questions. Past industries covered include product management, consulting, and tech sales.
- Constellations (networking event with SMU seniors)
