Internship Readiness Modules (for Undergraduates only)
Get internship-ready with the Internship Readiness Module (IRM) via eLearn! Learn how to craft a great resume, build your LinkedIn profile, pitch yourself confidently, and ace interviews through online units and hands-on workshops. Supplemented by one-on-one coaching and Career Readiness sessions, IRM gives you the skills to stand out and succeed.
The IRM is made up of 6 learning units:
a) IRM101 Self-awareness and Basic Career Planning
b) IRM102 Creating and Managing Your Professional Digital Footprint
c) IRM103 Resume and Cover Letter
d) IRM104 Job Search Strategies
e) IRM105 Interviewing Skills
f) IRM106 Workplace Compliance
You will be able to access the learning unit throughout your studies in SMU but you are strongly encouraged to complete the IRM by your first year. The following timeline serves as a general guide to give you enough time to source and apply for internship openings via ONTRAC II.
a) | If you wish to start your internship during the winter break in December | Complete your IRM by 31 Oct of the same year |
b) | If you wish to start your internship during the summer break between May-Aug | Complete your IRM by 31 Mar of the same year |
c) | If you wish to complete the learning units during the summer break | Complete your IRM by 30 Jun |

Career Development Series (for Postgraduates only)
Through the Career Development Series, you’ll gain essential skills and insights to plan, prepare for, and navigate your career with confidence. Topics include interview techniques, career planning strategies, and building meaningful professional connections.
